Chris Gheran's first album Monster (2008) rocks out his Hard Folk - band style. Coup d'etat (2010) is a solo collection of unique perspectives on war, society and sweet love. The lyrics of both will touch your soul. His third album, Calgary to be released on March 25, 2011 at the Ironwood Stage & Grill, introduces banjo and resophonic guitar. Chris played in Medicine Hat's Tongue on Post Festival in January 2011. He also performed at the 2010 Calgary Folk Music Festival (6 performances) and hosted their 2010 Youth Songwriter Contest. Earlier this year, Chris's opening act complemented The Wailin' Jennys in the beautiful Knox United Church in downtown Calgary. In 2008, he opened for Jonathan Richman with a phenomenal solo set in concert at the Martha Cohen Theatre in the Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts as part of Sled Island 2008 and was asked back in 2009. Energy 101.5 interviewed Chris as did FUEL, CJSW, JackFM, and X92.9 with on air performances. Chris won a singer/songwriter contest at Shotz Bar & Grill, was highlighted as a "Band to Watch" on FUEL, and won JackFM's Busker contest August 2010. He was a semi-finalist in both the FUEL 90.3 Rock Star 2008 and Blind Beggar Big Rock/X92 Original Music Showcase. Chris was chosen to perform at Kelowna's Rockanagan in 2008 and 2009.

I've grown up loving and involving myself in lots of music. When I was just a youngster I started singing at church on Sundays, and after building up my confidence, my mom dragged me up on stage at our friend's wedding reception. I sang in the school choir in elementary and before long I became a proud alto singer in the Calgary Girl's Choir. Being classically trained was an awesome experience for me as it really developed my voice. After six years in the choir, I resigned and started working with my current vocal teacher, Brian Farrell. For the past two summers I've competed in Calgary's Stampede Talent Search and made it into the semi-finals. I perform at the Ironwood restaurant and perform at small venues like old folk's homes and at open mics around Calgary. I've recently been having little gatherings at my house so people can hear my voice as well as my lovely grand piano, Joy. I've been very blessed, as of late, to be pursuing my life long goal of recording and producing my own CD, 'When You Listen.' The album was recorded in the summer of 2010 and was released in December, 2010. My inspiration comes from lots of things, especially people, memories, and feelings. I don't always write about myself but often find myself writing about people I know, people I don't know, or people that don't even exist! I really hope you enjoy my songs and first album, 'When You Listen.'
