This book explains how to create professional voice-over products using Linux and associated open source software. It's a down-to-earth but detailed description based on personal experience, from an author whose primary personal computer is Linux. He has also used Linux to produce several audiobooks that are on Audible. In this audiobook, you will find practical how-to advice on audio recording, normalization, editing, packaging, and delivery. Technical jargon is demystified with straightforward descriptions of PCM audio and the difference between average and loudness normalization, as well as extensive documentation of the Audacity audio editor. ungekürzt. Using chips composed of thousands of spots, each with the capability of holding DNA molecules corresponding to a given gene, DNA microarray technology has enabled researchers to measure simultaneously gene expression across the genome. As with other large-scale genomics approaches, microarray technologies are broadly applicable across disciplines of life and biomedical sciences, but remain daunting to many researchers. This guide is designed to demystify the technology and inform more biologists about this critically important experimental technique.Cohesive overview of the technology and available platforms, followed by detailed discussion of experimental design and analysis of microarray experiments Up-to-date description of normalization methods and current methods for sample amplification and labeling Deep focus on oligonucleotide design, printing, labeling and hybridization, data acquisition, normalization, and meta-analysis Additional uses of microarray technology such as ChIP (chromatin immunoprecipitation) with hybridization to DNA arrays, microarray-based comparative genomic hybridization (CGH), and cell and tissue arrays

Recently, deep learning has caused a significant impact on computer vision, speech recognition, and natural language understanding. In spite of the remarkable advances, deep learning recent performance gains have been modest and usually rely on increasing the depth of the models, which often requires more computational resources such as processing time and memory usage. To tackle this problem, we turned our attention to the interworking between the activation functions and the batch normalization, which is virtually mandatory currently. In this work, we propose the activation function Displaced Rectifier Linear Unit (DReLU) by conjecturing that extending the identity function of ReLU to the third quadrant enhances compatibility with batch normalization. Moreover, we used statistical tests to compare the impact of using distinct activation functions (ReLU, LReLU, PReLU, ELU, and DReLU) on the learning speed and test accuracy performance of VGG and Residual Networks state-of-the-art models. These convolutional neural networks were trained on CIFAR-10 and CIFAR-100, the most commonly used deep learning computer vision datasets. The results showed DReLU speeded up learning in all models and datasets. Besides, statistical significant performance assessments (p
