    Die Lust an der Ausgelassenheit und am Verkleiden findet sich bei allen Kulturvölkern in unterschiedlichen Festbräuchen. In der christlich geprägten Welt kommen diese in der Fastnacht zum Ausdruck, im jüdischen Kulturkreis im Purimfest. Beide Feste haben ähnliche Erscheinungsformen, aber höchst unterschiedliche Wurzeln. Die Sonderausstellung des Fördervereins ehemalige Synagoge Kitzingen e.V. und des Deutschen Fastnachtmuseums stand daher unter dem Motto: jüdisch jeck, Fastnacht und Purim, eine Annäherung. Nachgespürt wird den vielfältigen Berührungspunkten der beiden Feste mit Verkleidungen, scherzhaften Spielen, charakteristischer Geräuschkulisse, Festgebäck und Berauschung (Schenk, Schaider, Wahner). Besonders interessant ist auch der Vergleich der Theaterformen des Purim- und des Fastnachtsspiels (Eifler). Doch auch das dunkle Kapitel des Karnevals im Dritten Reich mit antisemitischen Äußerungen und Ausschlüssen von jüdischen Mitgliedern bleibt nicht ausgespart (McDaniel). Darüber hinaus wird ein Vergleich von christlichen und jüdischen Narrengestalten, beispielsweise Till Eulenspiegel und Hersch Ostropoler, gezogen und auch die literarische Figur des Juden in Grimmschen Märchen und in der Volksliteratur beleuchtet (Sandner). In der Rhöner Fastnacht sind die Holzmasken der sogenannten Jüden bekannt (Deiters). Biographien bekannter jüdischer Karnevalisten, beispielsweise Hans Tobar, Simon Oppenheim und Max Salomon, ergänzen die Darstellung (Santana Silva). Selbstverständlich fehlt auch ein Blick auf den jüdischen Witz und Humor nicht (Pinsky, Bischof, Schmidt). Abschließend werden museumspädagogische Zugänge in der Sonderausstellung reflektiert, eingebettet in eine Darstellung museumspädagogischer Angebote an jüdischen Museen (Weigel). Tobar spielt mit den musikalischen Ideen des Punk, mischt und experimentiert mutig mit den Stilrichtungen und Stimmungen.
