Storyteller! Singer! Songsmith! Steve Laret is the sound of timelessness! With a voice like a natural wonder and his guitar in tow, Steve has embarked on a melodic mission that will one day be defined as a classic. Shadowed by a song, 21-year-old Steve Laret's musical journey is as inimitable as his personal journey. A native of Eagle River, Alaska, Steve has traveled all across North America and now calls Allentown, PA home. At 14 he began playing guitar and was soon a regular performer on the Central Pennsylvania circuit while still in his early teens. His proficient playing and sweet simple songs showcased his unmistakably emotive voice and gained him recognition within the close-knit music community on the outskirts of Allentown, PA. By the time Steve Laret was 15, he was on his way to becoming a seasoned professional combining the influences of John Denver, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, and John Mellencamp with his own distinctive style. He self-released his first CD St. Peter's Project, while still in high school. Steve then followed up by releasing a second self released album, Leaving St. Peter's (produced by MCA Recording artist The Badlees) that signified his coming of age and growth into manhood. This project chronicled his cross-country travel as he logged thousands of miles going from Pennsylvania to Alaska, from Canada to Mexico. Steve traveled to Europe in 2004 writing songs and playing in each town to earn enough money to continue his travels. His new self-released album Passion, features production from Bob Parr (Brian Setzer, The Neville Bros.), Dan Malsh (Lifer), and New York based artist/producer KENLI. Steve has shared the stage with such respected artists as Warren Zevon, The Badlees, Pat Magee, and The Allman Brothers. In addition he garnered the distinguished honor for two consecutive years of being nominated in the Lehigh Valley Music Awards for Best All-Around Performer, Best Male Vocalist, Best CD for 'Leaving St. Peter's' and Best Original Song for 'Sage.' He won Lehigh Valley Music's Singer/Songwriter of the Year Award for 2002. Steve has also been featured in various Artist Profile articles and reviews in his hometown's Pulse Weekly, Morning Call, Main Line Courier newspapers, as well as the cable video program The Stage. Aside from being recognized locally by his peers, Steve's music can be regularly heard on WZZO (95.1)in Allentown, Pennsylvania and WNTI (91.9 FM) in Hackettstown, NJ. WZZO and WNTI feature Laret both on air and on location at station events. WZZO Music Director Chris Line agrees, 'John Denver, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul Simon are some of the greatest songwriters in the world...I strongly believe Steve Laret will one day be added to that list...in my eyes he's already there! We look for big things to happen to him.' In 2004 Steve was chosen by WZZO to perform at the annual MusikFest event in Bethlehem, PA, which is the country's largest music festival. In 2005 Laret joined Musicians on Call organization in Philadelphia, Pa, that is sponsored by WXPN (85.5 fm) to lend his talents to 'delivering the healing power of music to area hospitals.' Denn zum Einen ist es die allererste "Best Of"-Zusammenstellung überhaupt, die von der Sängerin und Songschreiberin in ihrer nun schon achtzehn Jahre umspannenden Karriere veröffentlicht wird. Zum Anderen bietet diese Doppel-CD nicht nur Aufnahmen, die sie in den letzten Jahren für Rounder Records machte, sondern auch Einspielungen, die sie bei Decca/Emarcy und ganz am Anfang bei Atlantic Records herausbrachte.
