Trapped in a car wreck, crushed by a train. In seconds, Zaranna's world is torn apart and she must start life anew, as a survivor. A double amputee. Yet why does this promising equestrienne remember a flash of sulphurous fire, and a crimson paw hurling her mother's car onto the train tracks? Why does a tide of beguiling butterflies flood her increasingly chaotic dreams? As Zaranna Inglewood adjusts to life minus legs, plus gorgeous Alex, the paramedic who cut her body from the wreckage, she learns the terror of being hunted. Relentless and inimical, the enemy lures her to a world where dreams shape reality. Equinox. A world of equinoctial storms; lashed by titanic forces of magic, dominated by the Pegasi and their centuries-old enmity with Human Wizards and the Dragons. This is a world where a girl can Dream her destiny. Where her soul can fly, or be chained forever. She is Zaranna, the Horse Dreamer. Survivor. Fighter. A girl who doesn't need legs to kick an evil fate in the teeth. All she needs is courage–the courage to Dream. Author's Note: The Horse Dreamer is a Young Adult epic fantasy with horses, dragons, evil wizards and a grandfather who doesn't know the meaning of 'slow down'. Laced with humour, action and fantasy adventure, this is a clean coming-of-age tale which can be enjoyed from ages 10 and up. Fans of Aranya, The Pygmy Dragon and Dragonfriend will love this tale of Zaranna, a feisty heroine who refuses to allow a few swamps, Storm Pegasi, crystal dragons, wizards and demonic underworld thugs to stop her, never mind the loss of her legs. What are you waiting for? Ride away to Equinox today! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Alexander Doddy. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/089417/bk_acx0_089417_sample.mp3. A living dog is better than a dead lion. Shall a man go and hang himself because he belongs to the race of pygmies, and not be the biggest pygmy that he can? Let every one mind his own business, and endeavor to be what he was made. Why should we be in such desperate haste to succeed and in such desperate enterprises? If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. - Henry David Thoreau A lot of ink has been spilled covering the lives of history’s most influential figures, but how much of the forest is lost for the trees? In Charles River Editors’ American Legends series, readers can get caught up to speed on the lives of America’s most important men and women in the time it takes to finish a commute, while learning interesting facts long forgotten or never known. In the mid-19th century, Romantic literature was still in full bloom across the West, but some American authors began producing literature that, while still Romantic, was unique enough to be considered a different genre. This new genre, Transcendentalism, focused on the spirituality of the self and nature, not rejecting religion outright but concentrating on pragmatism and the importance of individuals as the spiritual center of the cosmos. In addition to drawing upon the Age of Enlightenment, Transcendentalist authors also utilized the philosophy of Plato, who taught that self-fulfillment through attaining knowledge should be an individual’s ultimate goal. ungekürzt. From the craters of the moon, the jungle-ridden cities of prehistory, the world's scattered Pygmy tribes, and the columns of yesterday's newspaper comes new and thought-provoking evidence for the existence of space life. Such were the words on the original dust jacket of this, the first edition of The Expanding Case For the UFO. First released in 1957, The Expanding Case was the sequel to perhaps the most notorious book in the history of ufology: The Case for the UFO, which drew the interest of the US Navy and resulted in the infamously annotated "Varo Edition". The annotator of the Varo Edition, the mysterious Carlos Allende, claimed to have been a witness to the Philadelphia Experiment. Allende seemed to think that the book's author, astronomer M.K. Jessup, knew more about the experiment than he was admitting, and had maybe played a role in it. The Expanding Case For the UFO was the last book ever written by M.K. Jessup, and it ties together many of the controversial threads first exposed in The Case for the UFO. This special reprint features the original "lost" introduction by noted zoologist Ivan T. Sanderson. As evidence to how dangerous this material was at the time, it was only two years later that Jessup - after experiencing threatening phone calls and alarming synchronicities "too unbelievable to describe" - would be found dead in a park in Dade County, Florida - supposedly a "suicide". While Allende claimed Jessup killed the hitman sent to terminate him, and was able to escape by trading identities with the hitman, the facts remain obscured - like the UFOs themselves - in a most intriguing fog. ungekürzt. The complete sequel to Flashback (originally published as a serial).   Naaygi found them waiting for her - as she somehow knew they would be - as the cage doors opened, their forward-facing eyes glinting the same hue as the lights in the sky and their dark, storm-colored bodies held absolutely still (even as another animal joined them and brought their number to four).  She even knew somehow what they were: a breed of carnosaur the “evolved” humans had called nanotyrannosaurs, the “Pygmy Tyrants”, and that one of them, the one with the brand upon its tail, the leader, even had a name - Napoleon, for he had been bounced forward and back in time via another alien species well before the Flashback and still bore the scars of his sojourn among the humans. She didn’t know how she knew these things, no more than she knew just where, within herself, Naaygi ended and they, the lights in the sky, began. She just did; just as she knew that the Nano-Ts represented a queer offshoot of the dinosaur population that was altogether fleeter, deadlier, and cannier than anything that had come before it.   And thus she bowed to them, her avengers, her killers - their killers, the lights in the sky - the rain running in rivulets down her body as she dropped to her knees and touched her forehead to the pavement, a pavement which ran red with blood and was strewn with the dismembered, disemboweled corpses of at least 50 men and women.   And then she whispered to them in a language older than words, "Follow me."   ungekürzt.
