    Das Besondere an diesem Wein Australien ist nicht gleich Australien. Dies gilt in Sachen Wein vor allem in Bezug auf das Klima. Clare Valley liegt in den Ausläufern der über 700 Meter hohen Mount Lofty Ranges in der Nähe von Adelaide. Die Weinberge hier profitieren von einem vergleichsweise kühlen, maritimen Klima. Diese Bedingungen bilden einen starken Kontrast zu den meisten anderen Weinregionen in Down Under. Selbst Riesling entsteht im Clare Valley; aber eben auch wunderbare Rotweine wie dieser Cabernet Sauvignon von den Byrne Vineyards. Der Rotwein verkörpert die Charakteristik von Clare Valley sehr gut, denn auf der einen Seite wirkt der Cabernet intensiv und fruchtbetont, doch auf der anderen Seite besitzt er auch Spannung und Vitalität. Letztere Eigenschaften gehen häufig bei übermäßig sonnenverwöhnten Weinen verloren, obwohl sie für eine hohe Qualität unabdingbar sind. Zusätzlich qualitätssteigernd wirkt sich auf diesen Cabernet Sauvignon eine Reifezeit von 18 Monaten in französischen und amerikanischen Eichenholzfässern aus. Aromatisch überlagert wird der Wein dadurch aber nicht, der imposante Charakter des Cabs gewinnt vielmehr an Komplexität. Diese Vielschichtigkeit wird noch gesteigert, da dieser Cabernet Sauvignon nicht komplett reinsortig daherkommt: Knapp 10 Prozent Merlot und 5 Prozent Shiraz versorgen den Wein mit zusätzlichen aromatischen Einflüssen. Von den Weinmachern der Byrne Vineyards gekonnt gemacht. Diese Positivattribute machen den Cabernet Sauvignon Calcannia nicht nur zu einem besonders guten Rotwein, sondern auch zu einem preislich hochattraktiven Angebot. Mehr als selten findet sich ein so aufwendig produzierter Cabernet Sauvignon für solch moderaten Preis. Perfekt zu reichhaltig gewürztem Lammkarree und langsam geschmortem Braten. Wie der Wein schmeckt: charakterstark & kräftig Im Glas mit einem dunklen Cassisrot. Auch in der intensiven Nase mit beeindruckenden Cassis-Anklängen, schwarzer Himbeere, eingelegter Pflaume sowie Schwarzkirsche. Im Mund zeigt der Wein eine wohltuende Frische und bereits zur Feinheit gereifte Tannine. Hier spielen die schwarzen Johannisbeeren nochmals aromatisch auf und werden durch Eichen- und Zedernholzduft begleitet. Im langen Abgang mit vielschichtigen Gewürznoten.
