The production of industrial and bioenergy crops has been the subject of scientific research for many years; however, the implementation of previously proposed solutions for commercial production is still at an early stage. It should be emphasized that when developing the production of industrial and bioenergy crops on agricultural lands, it is important to avoid land-use competition with the production of food and feed. It is well justified, for initiating the sustainable production of industrial and bioenergy crops, to promote efficient species for growing on marginal lands, which are unsuitable or less suitable for food or feed production. Another important point is that industrial and bioenergy crops should include nonfood and nonfeed crops and generate agricultural products categorized as commodities and/or raw materials for industrial goods and bioenergy. These industrial and bioenergy crops can become an important source of biomass. Of course, the concept of their cultivation for nonfood (and/or nonfeed) uses is not new but, despite considerable investment in research and development, little progress has been made with regard to the introduction of such crops and their products into the market. Therefore, the papers focus on innovations and perspectives regarding sustainable industrial and bioenergy crops production, logistic chains, biomass quality, utilization and cascade biomass use for bioeconomy, socio-economic and energy analyses, etc.

This volume contains the papers from BIOWIRE 2007, the first in a series of wo- shops on the bio-inspired design of networks, and additional papers contributed from the research area of bio-inspired computing and communication. The workshop took place at the University of Cambridge during April 2-5, 2007 with sponsorship from the US/UK International Technology Alliance in Network and Information Sciences. Its objective was to present, discuss and explore the recent developments in the field of bio-inspired design of networks, with particular regard to wireless networks and the self-organizing properties of biological networks. The workshop was organized by Jon Crowcroft (University of Cambridge), Don Towsley (University of Massachusetts), Dinesh Verma (IBM T. J. Watson Research Center), Vasilis Pappas (IBM T. J. Watson Research Center), Ananthram Swami (ARL), Tom McCutcheon (DSTL) and Pietro Liò (University of Cambridge). The program for BIOWIRE 2007 included 54 speakers covering a diverse range of topics, categorized as follows: 1. Self-organized communication networks in insects 2. Neuronal communications 3. Bio-computing 4. Epidemiology 5. Network theory 6. Wireless and sensorial networks 7. Brain: models of sensorial integration The BIOWIRE workshop focuses on achieving a common ground for knowledge sharing among scientists with expertise in investigating the application domain (e. g. , biological, wireless, data communication and transportation networks) and scientists with relevant expertise in the methodology domain (e. g. , mathematics and statistical physics of networks).

The stories in Narrating Estrangement: Autoethnographies of Writing Of(f) Family demonstrate the pain, anguish, and even relief felt by those who contemplate estranging or who are estranged, whether by choice or circumstance. Despite the social assumptions persisting about the everlasting nature of family relationships, when people make the complicated and often difficult decision to disconnect from family members, they experience shame, stigma, and isolation because of social pressures to maintain those relationships at all costs. Each contributor uses the act of storytelling and the autoethnographic mode of scholarship and writing to find clarity in their individual, unique, and complex situations. Several authors' explorations restore some of what they have lost through estrangement-such as a sense of identity, emotional health and well-being, and feelings of belonging-due to the breakdowns in social and family support systems meant to be unconditional and "permanent." The stories display the wide array of reasons why family members become estranged, delving into different types of estrangement, permanent and/or intermittent. In doing so, the writers in this book demonstrate that family relationships are neither easily categorized nor neatly ended-their impact on an individual's life continues and changes, even in and through estrangement. This book adds to the ongoing scholarly conversations about family estrangement for students and researchers interested in autoethnography and qualitative inquiry, in a wide range of disciplines in the social sciences, healthcare, and communication studies.

This is a presentation of Teilhard de Chardin's concept of purpose-driven evolution. Darwin's famous thesis that evolution proceeds by chance, groping, and the survival of the fittest could be the case until the advent of the first human, the first creature who knew that he knew. Thereafter, continuing change becomes more and more by plan. The human being begins to take charge of evolution. There is still some chance and groping, but much of it is really planned trial that results in either success or failure - and we try again. God, the Light, is the architect of all that is. His will, when manifested, becomes the purpose behind everything, the inanimate, animate, and the thinking layers or spheres of the universe. In this book, the author uses chronological evolution as the outline as we observe the foundations of our universe and the unfolding of the phenomenon of "man". The evolutionary process as explained in the Human Phenomenon, a new edition of de Chardin's The Phenomenon of Man (1065 English edition), as edited and translated from the French 1955 edition by Sarah Appleton Weber in 1999, is categorized under four parts: Prelife Life Thought Superlife Can a committed Christian believe in the theory of evolution? What does the search for the light in evolution reveal about my place as a person in the development of the Earth? Listen to this audiobook to find the answers. ungekürzt. Language: English. This book contains approximately 3,800 words but a powerful subject is addressed within its content. - - - "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3 KJV) From the surface, it sounds very nice and like an event of spiritual peace among these two major denominations, that would be such a wonderful thing to see happen but is it even remotely realistic or achievable? Maybe the more important question would be this: Does God desire for such opposed religious practices to reach a point of saying "Every road leads to God.", when the Holy Scriptures do not at all endorse such a position? Are there actually people knowledgeable in the scriptures that do not recognize how far apart these two belief systems (for lack of a better term), actually are? In reality, there are no denominations recognized by the Holy Bible but rather those who hold to faith in Jesus Christ are simply called "Christians". With this being the case, this does not take away from the fact that Christians have still been categorized into two major denominations and this has been the case for 100s of years. Still, we have to look at what God's Word has to say, first and foremost; also recognizing that the scriptures themselves state that nothing can supersede or add to God's inspired Words, including anything fallible men believe would better suite them, whether Protestant or Catholic. ungekürzt. The idea of this book struck me as I was reading the daily newspapers. I found a column in which amazing real life incidents were stated - such as a man living in an unusual place, jewelry mysteriously disappearing, miracles taking place, and many other strange yet interesting things. I liked these incidents so much that I couldn't stop thinking about the various possibilities they would lead to, and so I started to jolt them into words. I was surprised as I completed my first story within an hour. Though fast, it was only a couple of hundred words, and so I challenged myself to write 15 such very short stories. These very short stories are filled with adventure, action, irony, tragedy, and humor. Each story has its own world and language, and shows the listener that this is the way of life and how it should be cherished. The toughest part was to give a name to this collection of very short stories, since they are so varied and could not be categorized; frankly speaking I am not sure even now. The longest one among the collection stood out, so I suggested calling the book by its name: "An Evening with Lady Luck". I would like to thank my parents and my mentor, Mr. Curtis Peter Van Gorder, for making this audiobook materialize. I hope it helps you as it has helped me. - Shreyans Ranjalkar ungekürzt.
