This audiobook is the new translation newly revised by a Committee at the Bahá'í World Centre, copyright 2014. Some Answered Questions includes a wide range of questions and answers compiled from a series of talks given by 'Abdu'l-Baha in 1904, 1905, and 1906 while at the supper table. The answers were given in reply to questions posed by visiting pilgrims, especially Laura Clifford Barney. Later these answers recorded in Persian were translated into French and English. They constitute a rich source of philosophical and spiritual wisdom with answers that often bypass conundrums or controversies which have limited debate for many centuries. Treating human subjects and human spiritual destiny as well as the nature of creation as inseparable, these answers altogether represent a vision which surpasses any given in the past and which will inform and balance the thought of much intellectual and spiritual life in the future. ungekürzt. "Perovskite-Based Solar Cells: From Fundamentals to Tandem Devices" gives fundamental understanding of perovskite solar cells from the chemical composition of each thin layer composing the different stacks to the whole device. Special attention has been given to the development of the materials forming the perovskite solar cell and their effect on the device performance, in addition to the recent progress of this emerging technology. Moreover, light has been shed on the perovskite elaboration techniques, in addition to the several techniques proposed to improve both the efficiency and the stability of perovskite solar cells. Furthermore, special emphasis was given to the three types of tandem solar cells and their recent advances starting from Perovskite/perovskite tandem solar cells to Perovskite/ CIGS tandem cells to perovskite/ heterojunction silicon tandem solar cells. The latter constitute a promising solution to improve photovoltaic solar cells performance.

This volume discusses how the German armed forces made effective use of military geologists to assist their fortification of the Channel Islands after their capture from the British in 1940. The book presents a unique case history of German geologist expertise applied to British terrain, intended to make the Islands into an impregnable fortress that postwar would remain a permanent outpost of the German state. In doing so, the book explains why the Channel Islands constitute a 'classic' location for British geology; how German armed forces made far greater military use of geologists than either their British or American opponents; and the legacy of fortifications that may conveniently be seen by tourists today - fortifications bypassed by Allied forces that liberated nearby Normandy after D-Day in June 1944, and surrendered intact at the end of the War in Europe in May 1945.

This book develops a framework for the legal analysis of global governance phenomena. Today, international institutions are responsible for more and more governance activities which cover a wide range of issue areas and which affect individuals and governments alike. So far, there exists no legal, doctrinal approach to such phenomena. The dominant social science approach is unsatisfactory from a normative standpoint: it does not allow to single out those activities on the part of international institutions which compromise individual or collective self-determination. To this end, the book proposes the concept of "international public authority." In a series of thematic studies, it identifies important hard and soft mechanisms that constitute unilateral exercises of power by the institutions of global governance. Cross-cutting analyses single out procedural and substantive principles which could become the corner stones of the further development of international institutional law.

This paper presents an intervention project to promote reading and writing in a high school located in a community with marginalization and violence; the methodology used was participatory action research. The purpose was to arouse interest through aesthetic reading and creative writing with texts of universal literature and on violence, in addition to promoting reflection and dialogue to stop normalizing violent practices and to understand the phenomenon in order to guide actions. The group consisted of 24 young people between 14 and 16 years of age. The evaluation was carried out with surveys -one initial and one final-, participant observation logs and reading and writing exercises. The results reveal evident progress in reading and writing practices, as well as in reflection and dialogue for the denaturalization of violence. However, it is reaffirmed that the precarious conditions of the educational institution constitute an obstacle.

This book comes out on the centenary of the publication of Bronislaw Malinowski's Argonauts of Western Pacific (1922), the birth date of modern anthropological ethnography. Reconsidering the critical reflections developed in this century towards positivist anthropology and ethnographic authorship, the book articulates a radical critique of Cultural Anthropology's claim to propose itself as a social science on the basis of data constructed from so-called "participant observation". Fieldwork, as a scientific practice of confrontation with human diversity, does not generate factual data but points of view that - as James Clifford states - are only partial truths. However, those data are fundamental clues to historical understanding. The book consists of four chapters, of which the first three ("L'evanescente legittimazione dell'antropologia culturale", "Le ambiguità dell'etnografia antropologica" and "Relatività etnografica") constitute the pars destruens, while the fourth ("Etnografia e comprensione storica") tries to sketch a pars construens.

Napoleon Hill, America's most beloved motivational author, devoted 25 years to finding out how the wealthy became that way. After interviewing over 500 of the most affluent men and women of his time, he uncovered the secret to great wealth based on the notion that if we can learn to think like the rich, we can start to behave like them. By understanding and applying the thirteen simple steps that constitute Hill's formula, you can achieve your goals, change your life and join the ranks of the rich and successful. In this updated edition, Dr. Arthur R. Pell provides examples of men and women who, in recent times, exemplify the principles that Hill promulgated. With the success stories of top achievers such as Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg, he proves that Hill's philosophies are as valid today as they were then. If you're looking to become the next Bill Gates, this is the book for you. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Varoon P Anand.
