Siddhartha is a novel by Hermann Hesse that deals with the spiritual journey of self-discovery of a man named Siddhartha during the time of the Gautama Buddha. The book, Hesse's ninth novel, was written in German in a simple, lyrical style. It was published in the US in 1951 and became influential during the 1960s. Hesse dedicated the first part of it to Romain Rolland and the second part to Wilhelm Gundert, his cousin.  The word Siddhartha is made up of two words in Sanskrit language, siddha ("achieved") and artha ("what was searched for"), which together mean "he who has found meaning (of existence)" or "he who has attained his goals". In fact, the Buddha's own name, before his renunciation, was Siddhartha Gautama, prince of Kapilavastu. In this audiobook, the Buddha is referred to as Gotama. ungekürzt. Language: English. The Bhagavad Gita, popularly known as the Gita, is the 'Sacred Song of God'. In its 700 shlokas, the ecstatic joy of devotion, the importance of equanimity and the relationship of man with God are described in the most precise poetic language.  The Gita, recited by Krishna to Arjuna as an exhortation while war rages around them, subtly raises the question of whether action or renunciation of action is better and concludes that the path of action (Karmayoga) is better. At the end, Arjuna declares that his delusions have been destroyed and doubts dispelled, and he is convinced to carry out his duty and follow the path of action.  The message of the Gita is as relevant to the present-day Kurukshetra of daily challenges and opportunities as it was for Arjuna in the great war of the Mahabharata. Art of Life: Timeless Wisdom from the Gita offers a clear understanding of the profound wisdom contained in the Bhagavad Gita, in simple and lucid language. ungekürzt. Language: English. Restored to Freedom changes the lives and marriages of people from pain, hopelessness, and brokenness to love, joy, and peace. It is the first audiobook that provides revelation of what happens when we grow up with fathers and/or mothers that cause emotional pain and how it affects a child later in adulthood, which then hurts their relationships, marriages, and children. Powerful renunciation prayers will break the vicious cycle of generational dysfunction and divorce, causing tremendous unconditional love between your relationships with your spouse, children, and other individuals. Many have observed immediate results of changes in one's personality from control, manipulation, and deceit to honesty, humbleness, and tenderness. Also, physical pains that never seem to be healed (back, neck, etc.) will commonly disappear after listening to the prayers found here. This is truly a work of tremendous insight that the enemy did not want to be revealed to allow people to be totally restored to freedom. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Nelson L. Schuman. Siddharth Gautam, prince of Kapilavastu and heir to the throne, has everything. Yet he is dissatisfied. The fundamental problem of suffering, dukkha, bothers him. He leaves home, renouncing crown and family, and becomes a wandering seeker. Siddharth finds gurus to guide him, practices extreme asceticism at one point nearly starving himself to death and then rejects everything, for the knowledge he seeks constantly eludes him. He then meditates, and one epiphanic night, enlightenment comes to him, the startling insight into the human condition which makes him the Buddha. The Dhamma Man explores, sensitively and with great objectivity, Buddha as man as son, husband and father. And even as Sarang tries to understand the effect Siddharth's renunciation of the world had on his family, he celebrates Buddha, who not only launched a religion but has continued relevance today, more than two millennia after his death. Richly imagined and refreshingly original, The Dhamma Man is a whole new way to read the story of Buddha. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Samrat Charabarti. Two themes that recur very frequently in the works of James Allen are passion and purity. However, unlike many writers on moral discipline, the author regards purity as the natural state of man, which has been obscured by passionate attachment to external artefacts. Once the waves of passion are stilled, attachment falls away, allowing the seeker to attain a transcendent purity of vision and thus behold the reality that underlies the illusion of change. In the introduction the author writes: "The first three parts of this book, Passion, Aspiration, and Temptation, represent the common human life, with its passion, pathos, and tragedy. The last three parts, Transcendence, Beatitude, and Peace, represents the Divine Life - calm, wise and beautiful - of the sage and Savior. The middle part, Transmutation, is the transitional stage between the two; it is the alchemic process linking the divine with the human life. Discipline, denial, and renunciation do not constitute the Divine State; they are only the means by which it is attained. The Divine Life is established in that Perfect Knowledge which bestows Perfect Peace." ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Denis Daly. Gautama's ideas went against the established beliefs of centuries. His teachings did not rely on the idea of a supreme god or gods who could rescue humanity from its sorrows; instead he believed that nirvana lay within each person and could be achieved by following the right path. Even though he was one of the most influential men who ever walked the Earth, very little is known about the life of Siddhartha Gautama, the man we call the Buddha. His teachings were followed in India for 1,500 years and became the guiding principles of life for both rich and poor, high born and lower castes. Today the religion he founded is followed all over the world. Here is the fascinating story of his life from his youth as a privileged prince to his renunciation and his attainment of nirvana. Learn how his teachings changed all those who came in contact with him and the story of the tumultuous lives of people and kingdoms in ancient India. ungekürzt. Language: English.
