Amazing arcade game! Baobabs grow in a very specific way: usually their crown is spread out and extends much wider than the trunk, and it is flattened at the top. Our Baobab is an amazing arcade game that will provide participants with a lot of laughter and fun. What is it about? - In the center of the table a baobab is placed - a tree trunk with a lid forming a flat surface. - There are 108 shuffled cards in the game that make up a pile. Under no circumstances should you view them! - In his turn, the participant declares how many cards he will play - always from 1 to 3. Then he turns the cards over one by one and places them on the baobab according to the requirements on each of them. - What to do if during his turn a player drops any cards from the tree or drops a card outside the baobab? Then all the cards that have fallen and that are declared but not yet played this turn go to the penalty pile. - The game ends when the last 108 cards are played. Then each player counts how many cards he has collected in the penalty pile. The one with the fewest wins! During the game we will encounter as many as 9 different types of cards! Depending on the pictures on them, the way they are placed on the baobab crown changes. Some of them seem simple at first glance. In practice, however, it turns out that they can be a challenge even for the most skillful players.

Norman Vincent Peale’s The Power of Positive Thinking, a classic best seller, has inspired an optimistic perspective for millions of Americans. Now, in an inspirational and entertaining rebuttal, the legendary basketball coach Bob Knight explains why "negative thinking" will actually produce more positive results, in sports and in daily life. Coach Knight, the second-winningest coach in NCAA history with 902 victories, explains that victory is often attained by the team that makes the fewest mistakes. His coaching philosophy was to instill discipline by "preparing to win" rather than hoping to win. That meant understanding the downside and drilling his teams to prevent the things that could go wrong. And when his teams did win, he made sure they didn’t dwell on their success, but rather looked immediately to the challenges of the next game. He applies this lesson to business strategy as well. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Dick Hill. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/brll/004763/bk_brll_004763_sample.mp3. These are my stories losing language in a stroke, then brain trauma. I'm a clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst, baby observer, bird watcher. My sense of self survived using these skills to reflect on walking through a wilderness without read signs. I found languages outside of verbal language that took me to whole new worlds... To speak at all was to locate the fewest words to express anything. I wanted to keep this spare language to convey the unimaginable. Digging deep, then deeper again, I rooted into memory to illuminate for those can't imagine the loss of language. And I wanted to speak for those thousands who have lost language and can't ever tell you it is... Catastrophe comes with deep choices: One can fall apart emotionally, be miserable about the unfairness, or pick up the challenge and reenter life with vitality whatever the personal conditions. These stories are about what it means to survive, what it means to find a place to live well despite circumstance. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Nora Funaro. In nearly every industry, smart machines are replacing human labor. It's not just factory jobs - automated technologies are handling people's investments, diagnosing illnesses, and analyzing written documents. If we humans are going to endure, Edward Hess and Katherine Ludwig say we're going to need a dose of humility. We need to be humble enough to let go of the idea that "smart" means knowing the most, using that information quickest, and making the fewest mistakes. Smart machines will always be better than we are at those things. Instead, we need to cultivate important abilities that smart machines don't have (yet): thinking critically, creatively, and innovatively, and building close relationships with others so we can collaborate effectively. Hess and Ludwig call this being NewSmart. To develop these abilities, we need to practice four specific behaviors: keeping our egos out of our way, managing our thoughts and emotions to curb any biases or defensiveness, listening to others with an open mind, and connecting with others socially and emotionally. What all these behaviors have in common is, again, humility - avoiding self-centeredness so we can learn from and work with other humans. Hess and Ludwig offer a guide to developing these NewSmart abilities and to creating organizations where these qualities are encouraged and rewarded. ungekürzt. Language: English. From the Desk of the Boss Queen Dear Audiobook Lover, The older I get, the more I find all I'm really interested in doing is talking, laughing, and eating - not necessarily in that order, but always those three things. Over and over again. The one thing that didn't make this list was cooking. I love food (truly and passionately) and food always tastes better with friends, and especially when cooked by friends. So, I thought it was finally time to spill the beans and share the recipes. As you'll hear, sometimes the best recipes are the ones with the fewest ingredients. Take Pig Candy, for example. Bacon and brown sugar when baked together are a magical combination. Trust me, one bite and the whole batch will be history. So, recording this audiobook was a dream come true. I got hours on end dedicated simply to talking about food and telling stories about my best friends. I had to stop recording a few times when the laughing got out of control, and I hope you'll be laughing along in your kitchen or car. As for financial planning, a word of advice, you can't afford not to buy this audiobook. It's one of the best investments you can make. Beyond that, I'm still figuring it out for myself. Having rich friends who can cook is certainly a good start. Jill Conner Browne For more wit and wisdom, don't miss The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love. ungekürzt. Language: English. A former captain in the Marines' First Recon Battalion, who fought in Afghanistan and Iraq, reveals how the Corps trains its elite and offers a point-blank account of twenty-first-century battle. If the Marines are "the few, the proud", Recon Marines are the fewest and the proudest. Only one Marine in a hundred qualifies for Recon, charged with working clandestinely, often behind enemy lines. Fick's training begins with a hellish summer at Quantico, after his junior year at Dartmouth, and advances to the pinnacle, Recon, four years later, on the eve of war with Iraq. Along the way, he learns to shoot a man a mile away, stays awake for 72 hours straight, endures interrogation and torture at the secretive SERE course, learns to swim with Navy SEALs, masters the Eleven Principles of Leadership, and much more. His vast skill set puts him in front of the front lines, leading 22 Marines into the deadliest conflict since Vietnam. He vows he will bring all his men home safely, and to do so he'll need more than his top-flight education. He'll need luck and an increasingly clear vision of the limitations of his superiors and the missions they assign him. Fick unveils the process that makes Marine officers such legendary leaders and shares his hard-won insights into the differences between the military ideals he learned and military practice, which can mock those ideals. One Bullet Away never shrinks from blunt truths, but it is an ultimately inspiring account of mastering the art of war. Language: English. Narrator: Nathaniel Fick. So how do you build a company that matters? Companies and people that matter have successfully become the obvious choices in the hearts and minds of their customers, their employees, and their communities. They elevate themselves by consistently finding ways to solve the most pressing needs their markets face. The result? They create more value year after year and build sustainable, differentiated organizations. In Matter, Peter Sheahan and Julie Williamson show you how to identify the place where you can create the most value - your edge of disruption - at the intersection of old and new, where your existing profits, reach, and reputation enable you to create the markets of the future. This is the place where the most important problems are solved and where the fewest people can solve them. Your edge of disruption is where your opportunity to matter is found. Matter uses extensive case studies of real companies that have successfully become the obvious choice in their markets - from high-profile corporations like Adobe and Burberry to lesser-known brands like Littlefield and BlueShore Financial. Their stories define innovative and impactful approaches to business that you can use to influence and partner with the right customers and clients to win in our radically changing world. Through their journeys you will find the inspiration and courage to lean in to complexity and solve the higher-value problems that matter most.
