2014 Mitolo "Marsican" Shiraz McLaren Vale - LIMITIERT
‘Perfectly balanced,’ was team leader Jade Koch’s estimation of this Gold winner, adding: ‘Delicious and ripe, with cherries and strawberries. A warm and rich wine.’ ‘Powerful yet balanced, with spiced dark fruits, and in need of decanting if drinking now,’ began Dan Cohen of Cépages Wine Bistro, while Mike Best of the WSET mused: ‘It has bright, ripe, pure fruit, white pepper and complexity, soft and supple yet powerful tannins, a heroic length and phenomenal integration and depth.’ Sommelier Wine Awards, 2017 To Frank Mitolo, this inaugural release from a couple of standout barrels from a single vineyard in Willunga is the culmination of everything that Mitolo is about. I had the privilege of being the first to taste it, alongside Matthew Jukes, at a secret rendezvous with Frank and winemaker Ben Glaetzer in a bar in Adelaide. It instantly joined the ranks of top tier of McLaren Vale shiraz. It’s effortlessly restrained, fragrant and fine-boned, yet characterful and driving, with a beautifully refined white pepper finish. Delight- fully finely textured tannins of magnificent poise underline impressive black fruit density. Pure class. TOP 20 WINES OF THE YEAR OVER $100, Tyson Stelzer’s Australian & New Zealand wines of the year 2017 ’14 seems an odd year in which to make a new super-cuvee flagship, but this by far the most intense of the Shirazs in the Mitolo toolbox, but no more full-bodied than Savitar. New oak plays a major role, but so does the brighter, more juicy fruit. James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2018 A brand new release that instantly joins the top tier of McLaren Vale Shiraz. It’s restrained, fragrant and fine-boned, yet characterful and driving, with a beautifully refined white-pepper finish of delightfully finely textured tannins of magnificent poise and effortless restraint. Very classy. Wine Business Magazine, Tyson Stelzer, Jan/Feb 2017- Shop: Ludwig von Kapff

Messinants: Pyreans Series, Book 2 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 951min
Pyre is a volatile planet. Its surface belches heat and noxious gases, forcing downsiders to inhabit domes. But Pyre's instability isn't limited to its geology. The colonists, who were marooned in the system hundreds of years ago, have endured a tumultuous history. Exploring Triton, Pyre's third moon, spacers inadvertently activate an alien dome. When nothing came of it, they combined their mining ships with the Honora Belle, the aging colony vessel, to sling slush, frozen gases, at Emperion, Pyre's second moon. Nearly a year later, the Belle's bridge crew, who monitors the alien site, is alarmed, when they witness a bright blue light shoot from the dome's platform and merge with the shield. The alien site isn't an entertainment stage, as Captain Jessie Cinders had facetiously mused. It's a gate, and aliens have arrived. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Nicole Poole. The Book , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 184min
Grant Stern stands looking out over the fields he has owned for the last 14 years. "Whatever possessed me to sell this place and start a new life?" he mused. If God can make the devil disappear with a sweep of his hand, why doesn't He? If we all have an equal chance to control the destiny of our lives, why are some of us crippled in our body or our mind? The answers to these and other questions are in The Book if you choose to accept them. And so begins the horror classic of 2013. Set in the jungles of Uganda, the story unfolds as Grant Stone and Molly make their way from Victoria Lake up the Nile Victoria River from the village of Kimaka, a suburb of Jinja, Uganda. The evil book of glyphs is unearthed at the archaeological dig. The locals recognize it as "The Book of Demons". Does the Devil have a Bible? Can the world stand against the power unleashed? Cry, weep, scream, but please, don't give away the ending. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Lynn Benson. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/022398/bk_acx0_022398_sample.mp3. Isobel Kuhn: On the Roof of the World: Christian Heroes: Then & Now , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 356min
A fellow missionary had said, "When you get to China, all the scum of your nature will rise to the top." It surely had, mused Belle. The food, the fleas, the filth, the exhausting mountain paths, and so many other transitions to missionary life had tested her. But Belle had stayed at her post, and she was so glad that she had. As a 14-year-old intent on living a "modern" life, the last thing Isobel Kuhn (1901-1957) wanted to grow up to be was a missionary. But as it turned out, this young agnostic's life was redirected - from crisis and doubt to hope and strength. Convinced that God wanted her to preach the gospel as a China inland missionary, Isobel bravely served among the Lisu people in remote mountainous regions of China and Thailand. After 20 years of ministry Isobel returned to the United States, writing stirring stories of faith and inspiring generations of listeners. This best-selling, missionary biography series - Christian Heroes: Then & Now - chronicles the exciting, challenging, and deeply touching true stories of ordinary men and women whose trust in God accomplished extraordinary exploits for His kingdom and glory. ungekürzt. Ted Bundy: The Life and Crimes of One of America's Most Notorious Serial Killers , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 91min
For most people, Ted Bundy is the quintessential serial killer - a good-looking, highly intelligent man who used his charm to lure an untold number of women to their deaths. In fact, as the judge announced his death sentence, he noted Bundy's intellect and mused that he would have enjoyed hearing Bundy try a case before him had he remained simply the genius law student he had once been. Bundy, of course, ended up choosing a far different path, going on a historic crime spree during the 1970s so prolific that estimates of his kill count vary by dozens, a debate Bundy was only too happy to stoke. On one occasion, when the FBI estimated he was responsible for three dozen murders, Bundy replied, "Add one digit to that, and you'll have it." On another occasion, he claimed the estimate of three dozen was close to accurate. Whatever the actual number, what is known is that the murders ranged from coldly calculated approaches of women in public places to breaking into homes at night and bludgeoning victims to death. Bundy often kept mementoes to commemorate the crimes, ranging from victims' possessions to their severed heads. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Mark Norman. Horizons of Cosmology: Exploring Worlds Seen and Unseen , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 425min
Highly esteemed astrophysicist Joseph Silk explores the vast mysteries and speculations of the field of cosmology in a way that balances an accessible style for the general reader and enough technical detail for advanced students and professionals. Indeed, while the physical laws and origins of the universe can be endlessly complex, even Einstein once mused that they could be explained simply enough to be grasped by nonspecialists. To that end, Silk begins by introducing the basic story of the major discoveries in cosmology over the past century - wherin we learned that we live in an expanding universe populated with galaxies and stars. The middle chapters examine a number of contemporary puzzles, such as dark matter and dark energy. The last third of the book looks at the human side of cosmology and moves to the more philosophical frontiers of the field, such as concepts of multiverses and time travel - areas of exploration where some crossover into speculative territory becomes unavoidable. In the past century alone, our understanding of the universe has expanded exponentially, and it will be fascinating to see what discoveries the next hundred years hold. Few books will provide such a thorough understanding of where we have been and what might lie ahead as Horizons of Cosmology. The book is published by Templeton Press. ungekürzt. Language: English. Judith of Blue Lake Ranch (eBook, ePUB)
Judith Sanford is the sole heiress ofBlue Lake Ranch that is worth a million-dollars but one of her own employees is plotting to swindle her. With the help of Bud Lee, a horse foreman, she is determined to figure out the mystery and put an end to the scheme. However, Bud Lee has his own vested interest in helping Judith! Excerpt: "Bud Lee, horse foreman of the Blue Lake Ranch, sat upon the gate of the home corral, builded a cigarette with slow brown fingers, and stared across the broken fields of the upper valley to the rosy glow above the pine-timbered ridge where the sun was coming up. His customary gravity was unusually pronounced. "If a man's got the hunch an egg is bad," he mused, "is that a real good and sufficient reason why he should go poking his finger inside the shell? I want to know!" Tommy Burkitt, the youngest wage-earner of the outfit and a profound admirer of all that taciturnity, good-humor, and quick capability which went into the make-up of Bud Lee, approached from the ranch-house on the knoll. "Hi, Bud!" he called. "Trevors wants you. On the jump." Lee watched Tommy coming on with that wide, rocking gait of a man used to much riding and little walking. The deep gravity in the foreman's eyes was touched with a little twinkle by way of greeting."- Shop: buecher

City of Endless Night: 100 Year Anniversary Annotated Edition , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 597min
In the Berlin of 2151, 300 million people live underground. The city is in a state of perpetual war with the rest of the world, its besieged population locked beneath an impenetrable dome. Religion has been rewritten; information is controlled by the state; and breeding is governed by eugenics. But a ray of hope descends into the underworld when a young American chemist manages to infiltrate the subterranean society in an attempt to rally the demoralized citizens and spark a revolution. This gripping dystopian novel offers remarkably prescient views of Germany's resurgence and the rise of fascism. A landmark of science fiction, Hastings' pioneering book was the precursor to Fritz Lang's Metropolis, Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, and other visionary tales which came after it. (doverpublications.com)In the wake of World War I, Milo Hastings imagined a future in which the then newly established League of Nations and Weimar Republic had both collapsed. He described a theoretical scenario in which Germany would be ruled by a single man who had leveraged the forces of ethnonationalism, socialism, and religion to declare himself a god. Hastings mused that Germany would instigate a second world war in 1983, and that a radical breakthrough in weapons technology would cause that war to devolve into a stalemate. He reasoned that such a war would allow Germany’s dictator to seize absolute control over every aspect of society. Books would be banned, the family would be replaced by a breeding program aimed at creating a “super-race”, the Jewish problem would be solved once and for all, and Germany would aspire to cleanse the earth of the “mongrel peoples”.Hastings’ pessimistic predictions turned out to be 40 years too optimistic. ungekürzt. Olympic Affair: A Novel of Hitler's Siren and America's Hero , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 714min
Although not a member of the National Socialist Party, Leni Riefenstahl was the film-maker darling of the Nazis and Adolf Hitler. First a successful dancer and actress in Germany, she became more notorious when she produced and directed Victory of Faith and Triumph of the Will, the chilling documentaries about Nazi Party congresses at Nuremberg. Glenn Morris was an All-American farm boy from tiny Simla, Colorado, as well as a former college football star and student body president at the school now known as Colorado State University. At the 1936 Olympics, he won the decathlon, earning him the label "the world's greatest athlete." Among the American heroes at the Berlin Games, he was considered second only to Jesse Owens, who won four gold medals. Riefenstahl and Morris: An unlikely couple? Perhaps, but in her 1987 memoirs, the German filmmaker belatedly confirmed she had an affair with the American athlete during the filming of Olympia, Riefenstahl's documentary about the Berlin Games. In fact, she portrayed it as much more than a dalliance, saying that she had dreamed of marrying Morris and that he broke her heart. Morris, who went on to Hollywood, the National Football League, and military service, spoke sparingly of the relationship, but mused late in life that he "should have stayed in Germany with Leni." In Olympic Affair, author Terry Frei turns to historical fiction in a novel researched in much the same fashion as his widely praised works of non-fiction, including Horns, Hogs, and Nixon Coming and Third Down and a War to Go. Using deduction, imagination and narrative skill to augment documented fact (as well as debunk myths parroted for many years), Frei tells the story of their ill-fated affair…and beyond. ungekürzt. Seduced by Her Husband's Bullying Boss , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 144min, (USK 18)
After my shower I’d slipped on a long, light blue summer dress decorated with large white flowers. It was going to be a hot day and I didn’t plan on going anywhere, so I didn’t bother with underwear. The feel of the warm air blowing under my dress was amazing. But instead of being calmed, I felt even more like laying on the bed and finishing what I’d started in the shower. When the doorbell rang, I thought it was the delivery guy. I opened the door without looking and stepped back in surprise when I saw Jerry grinning at me. “Is that how you treat your lover?” he asked. I backed up startled, my hand over my heart. Jerry turned in a complete circle, checking to see if anyone was watching. “What will your neighbors say. ‘A strange man is standing in front of Pamela’s open door. I wonder who he is?’” Jerry mused. “Please, come inside,” I begged him. I couldn’t afford a neighbor blabbing to my husband. “Tell me what I can do to you, first,” he said. “Please, just come inside,” I was in danger of becoming hysterical. “Tell me first, and make it loud enough for me to hear,” he insisted. “You can do anything you want,” I said. “Louder, and who can I do anything to?” “You can do anything you want to me, just please come inside,” I almost shouted. Jerry stepped through the door. “Pretty dress - take it off,” he said. Why did his arrogance turn me on? Telling the entire neighborhood he could do anything he wanted to me had been exciting. Being ordered to get naked caused me to ache for him. This time, we were in my sunlit kitchen. Our kitchen, mine and Todd’s, but I was naked in front of another man. I felt like I should hide myself but I didn’t do it. I wanted to be displayed for him. I could feel erotic spasms coming from the center of my body. “There’s something dripping down your thigh,” Jerry said. Without thinking I bent to look, my large breasts almost hitting me in the ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Samantha Logsdon.
